For College Admission Representatives

Bring Your College to Foxcroft

Each year Foxcroft School's Office of College Counseling is pleased to welcome representatives from colleges and universities to our boarding school campus. We welcome admission representatives for both fall and spring visits. With an eye toward access and equity, we will understand if you are unable to visit Foxcroft this year giving you a chance to visit high schools with historically underrepresented students.

Learn More about Scheduling a Visit

We are using SCOIR to schedule admission visits and available days and times are up on our SCOIR calendar.

If you would prefer to set up your visit outside of using SCOIR or if you don't see a date/time that works for your travel schedule, please feel free to email or call Patricia Mawyer (patricia.mawyer@townshipoflower.com or 540.687.4362) to schedule your visit to Foxcroft. If you are not already familiar with SCOIR you can learn about it here.

As we have done in the past, we offer both traditional admission visits and Specialized College Topic sessions. We have found that the Specialized College Topic sessions have been better attended and hope you will consider presenting one of these. Each of these sessions begins with general information about a broad college topic (see the list of some suggested topics below) while the admission representative uses examples from his/her campus to illustrate the important points. The second half of the 30-minute visit is focused on the information you generally provide during a traditional admission visit. We will promote these visits with additional targeted flyers and announcements. We can offer these sessions during the school day as well as during selected dates for lunches or dinners this fall and spring. Sessions offered during mealtimes will take place in our Private Dining Room. If you would like to offer a Specialized College Topic, please email or call Patricia Mawyer to set this up.

Some topics you could consider presenting in a Specialized College Topic session include:
  • The Admission Process: How Colleges Read Your Application
  • Writing Compelling Admission Essays
  • Experiential Learning Opportunities
  • Maximizing Your Campus Visit
  • Making the Most of a Large School Experience
  • The Joys of Study Abroad (or Study Away)
  • Rock That College Interview
  • Applying Early Decision – Is It For Me?
  • The Role of the College Advisor in Your Freshman Year of College
  • How Do Colleges Use Testing in the Admission Review
  • Looking Beyond the Rankings
  • Time Management for the College Freshman
  • Making the Most of the Resources on a College Campus
  • Applying to Engineering School
  • Creating Portfolios for Art School Applications
  • and more – if you have another topic you are interested in presenting, let us know!
With an eye toward access and equity, we will understand if you are unable to visit Foxcroft this year giving you a chance to visit high schools with historically underrepresented students.

We look forward to seeing you this spring.
